U2's City of Blinding Lights became the campaign song during the 2008 and 2012 U.S. presidential elections - and the band performed it at the 2009 inaugural celebration at the Lincoln Memorial.
"What a thrill for four Irish boys from the north side of Dublin to honor you sir, the next President of the United States, Barack Obama for choosing this song to be a part of the soundtrack of your campaign…" said Bono from stage at the time.
Earlier the band also performed Pride (In The Name Of Love), inviting the crowd to sing for 'not just an American dream… also an Irish dream… a European dream… African dream... Israeli dream… and also a Palestinian dream'. (Full video of U2's performance below)
Bono and Edge are among a stellar cast of speakers and performers taking to the stage this Thursday, June 18, at the Obama Presidential Center's Grand Opening.
Artists taking part include Bruce Springsteen, Christina Aguilera, Common, Eddie Vedder, Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, Marc Anthony, The Roots, Stevie Wonder and Tems. Bono and Edge feature in a 'One World' global performance celebrating 'unity, creativity and hope'.

The ceremony will be livestreamed globally beginning at 11 a.m. Central Time on obama.org, and on The Obama Foundation's TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook accounts.
